Don't Submit to Your Dog, Let Your Dog Submit to You.

The worst possible thing you can do when your dog isn't listening is praise them. But other actions can be just as bad, like walking away, allowing them to continue misbehaving, ignoring the problem, and putting them in a different room isn't a solution either. What you need to do is address the solution head on. Correct the unwanted behavior and continue doing so as many times needed until your dog listens or submits to you.

Submitting can be happen in many different ways. The most commonly thought of as submitting is when the dog lies on its side. That isn't the only time a dog submits though. Let's say your dog is behaving badly and you discipline the dog correctly repeatedly then all the sudden the dog just walks away and lies down, or stops misbehaving. That is another sign of your dog submitting to you.
